athletics and youth development

Athlete. Coach. Mentor.

Reed has been a lifelong athlete who was a high school basketball standout in East Cleveland, Ohio, a collegiate basketball player at Hiram College and has continued competitive play throughout his adult life. In 2014, Reed combined his love for basketball and youth development by founding Virginia Grind Elite AAU basketball program. Reed created Virginia Grind Elite basketball to provide young athletes an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of basketball and compete at the highest level of youth basketball both locally and nationally.   In an area rife with nationally recognized basketball programs, players and coaches, Reed built a grassroots program with unknown players and developed them over the past six years.  His program has since been recognized as one of the best in Northern Virginia and has won both local and national championships.  More importantly to Reed however, is having an impact on the development of his players as young men, scholars and contributing citizens of their local community.  In addition to basketball acumen, Reed has built a culture of service, high expectations, belief in self, commitment, unity, collective work and responsibility and perseverance
