Darren holds an unwavering belief that all children are uniquely brilliant, a belief rooted in his work as an award-winning educator. Darren has expanded his impact as a senior executive with over 30 years of leadership experience across multiple sectors, specializing in edtech, business development, and public policy advocacy. His deep insights into the challenges facing education position him as a leading figure in the transformation of both Education and EdTech.
In his most recent role, Reed served as the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Stride Professional Development at Stride, Inc. (formerly K12, Inc.), where he founded the company’s e-commerce platform serving over 25,000 educators and offering on-demand professional development. This venture, built from the ground up, showcases Darren's ability to harness the growing e-learning market and drive product development, customer acquisition, and strategic go-to-market initiatives.
Previously, Darren held senior leadership roles at Stride, where he managed a $600 million revenue portfolio, overseeing 19 blended and online K-12 schools across 12 states. He has also led innovative education reform initiatives, including the development of blended school models and leadership programs that have shaped education in underserved communities nationwide.
A first-generation college graduate, Darren’s career has been driven by a deep belief in the untapped potential of students in under-resourced communities. He has consulted for schools across the country, advocating for policies that expand educational access and improve outcomes for all students. Darren holds an Ed. S. in Educational Leadership from George Washington University, an M.A. in Ed Leadership, Policy and Planning from The College of William and Mary and a B.A. in Elementary Education from Hiram College in Ohio.

Darren shared reflections on the impact that quality teaching has on improving the academic and social trajectory of under-served students.
